Cellulose 2-hydroxyethyl Methyl Ether

 Cellulose 2-hydroxyethyl Methyl Ether is Hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose (HEMC) which is prepared by introducing ethylene oxide substituents (MS0.3~0.4) into methyl cellulose (MC), and its salt resistance is better than that of unmodified polymers. HEMC The gel temperature is also higher than that of MC.

Hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose is a kind of non-ionic high molecular polymer, it is white or almost white powder. It is soluble in cold water but insoluble in hot water. The solution exhibits strong pseudoplasticity and provides higher shear. Viscosity. HEMC is mainly used as an adhesive, protective colloid, thickener and stabilizer, and emulsifying additive.

2. Physical and chemical properties:


1.) Appearance: HEMC is white or off-white fibrous or granular powder; odorless.

2. )Solubility: The H model of HEMC can dissolve in cold water and hot water, the L model can only dissolve in cold water, and HEMC is insoluble in most organic solvents. After surface treatment, HEMC disperses in cold water without agglomeration and dissolves slowly, but it can be quickly dissolved by adjusting its PH value of 8~10.

3. )PH stability: The viscosity changes little within the range of 2-12, and the viscosity decreases beyond this range.

4. )Granularity: 40 mesh pass rate ≥99% 80 mesh pass rate 100%.

5. )Apparent density: 0.30-0.60g/cm3.

6. )HEMC has the characteristics of thickening, suspension, dispersion, adhesion, emulsification, film formation, water retention, etc. Its water retention is stronger than that of methyl cellulose, and its viscosity stability, mildew resistance, and dispersibility are stronger than that of hydroxyethyl cellulose. 



3. Purpose:

HEMC is widely used in water-based latex coatings, construction and building materials, printing inks, oil drilling, etc.



4. Dissolution method:

1.) Add the specified amount of clean water to the container.

2.) Add hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose under low-speed stirring, and stir until all materials are completely wet.

3. )Add the other ingredients of the formula and mix well.
